Biography of Pastor Sean M Lee

Hello, my name is Pastor Sean M Lee. I was raised in the church, often referred to as a pew baby, where I dedicated my early years to serving in Sunday school, youth church, and the music ministry. My journey in faith began at a young age, rooted in a nurturing spirit that called me to ministry.

After graduating from Howard High School in Delaware, I attended Delaware Technical Community College, followed by North Carolina A and T State University in Greensboro. My calling led me back home to serve as a worship pastor, during which time I continued my education at Palmer Theological Seminary and Wilmington University.

I was married to the late Cynthia Lee, who passed away in December 2022. Throughout my tenure as a worship pastor, I have been blessed with the opportunity to engage in mission work around the globe. My experiences include serving in Kenya, Ghana, and Kampala, Congo, where we established schools and ministry outreach centers in countries such as India, China, and Germany. Additionally, I had the privilege of serving as the staff director for several major conferences, including Bishop T. D. Jakes' MegaFest.

Driven by a vision to plant a church, I initiated our first congregation in Durham, North Carolina, followed by another in Hockessin, Delaware. These efforts resulted in meaningful outreach programs in our communities, including food giveaways and flag football leagues.

In 2018, I felt a strong call from the Holy Spirit to join the United Methodist Church, which led me to collaborate with Mount Joy. After several months of service, I connected with Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle, Delaware, where I became the associate pastor. During this time, I worked with both the contemporary worship service, Worship Afresh, and the traditional church, both of which flourished.

After two years, I was appointed as the lead pastor at Buttonwood United Methodist Church. Under my leadership, our congregation experienced significant growth and established outreach initiatives that incorporate technology, music, and ministry, contributing to a vibrant and healthy church community.
